Sussex University was first established as an education company in 1959. Its iconic red-bricked campus in Falmer, designed by Basil Spence, has seen decades of memories being made. These days, there are more than 13,000 students at Sussex, hailing from more than 100 countries from across the globe. The campus is ever-changing, but some old favourite features (like the meeting house, the regular protests, and the excessive amount of beer) still remain. Here are some of the best photos from throughout the years – expect fashion disasters, lots of wine, and a sense of overwhelming nostalgia.
If you have any cherished photos of your own time at Sussex, be sure to add them to the Sussex scrapbook on Flickr.
Thanks for sharing these wonderfully evocative images. I should just mention that I didn’t actually take the campfire photo, but I am in it. A group of us were snapped by someone doing a photography project on campus, I think.
Best wishes, and thanks again!
