Brighton and Hove Albion are set to face closely matched Aston Villa in what promises to  be an enthralling game in The Women’s Super League. The Seagulls will be seeking a strong  end to the league as they go into their last home game of the season at the Broadfield Stadium. Albion will be looking to surpass Aston Villa in the standings. After an impressive  performance as they shared the points with Tottenham Hotspur. The game ended in a 1-1  result, as Elisabeth Terland netted her 13th goal of the season. Written By Samuel Skedge

Aston Villa is going into the game looking for their first win in four games, aiming to turn  their form around with a huge victory over Brighton. A devastating blow in the 95th minute  saw them drop points at home against West Ham, drawing 1-1 after controlling the whole  game in possession. With the Swiss international, Alisha Lehman finding the opener with a  cool finish. This is an important game for both sides, as Aston Villa is only three points  ahead of the Seagulls with the same goal difference. The last time the two teams met at the Bescot Stadium was a dominant and comfortable result despite the score. Villa will aim to  do the double over Brighton. The last time they faced off in the Women’s Super League,  Adriana Leon secured all three points with a 1-0 win, despite a late red card for Maz  Pacheco

Brighton delivered a robust performance last week against FA Cup finalist Tottenham  Hotspur, narrowly missing out on three points after leading for most of the game. However,  the standout performance for debutant Melina Loeck performed some great saves and  hopes to stay in the starting lineup. A contender for team of the year, Elisabeth Terland  continues her fine form, seeking back-to-back goals in successive games.

Aston Villa’s manager, Carla Ward, confirms Daphne Van Domselaar and Lucy Staniforth  will be ruled out for this week’s matchday. However, Lucy Parker will be involved in the  matchday squad with Rachel Corsie and Anna Leat returning from suspension.

In a shocking statement, Villa’s manager Carla Ward announced that she will step down  from her role at the end of the season, she will be determined to end on a high. 17-year-old  Sophia Poor aims to retain her position in the starting lineup after being nominated for the  WSL Player of the Month award. The young goalkeeper played her first professional game in  April after replacing the injured and suspended goalkeepers. However, she made a name  for herself with important saves and was minutes away from securing her first clean  sheet.”

A win for Brighton will see them overtake Villa in the league for 7th position in the Women’s Super League.

I predict a close game between the two sides but see Brighton scarcely beating Aston Villa  2-1 with Lee Geum-min on the scoresheet.
