This year’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run has officially come to a close after the remaining vehicles arrived in the city on Sunday 7th November.
This event was particularly special considering it marks the 125th anniversary since its inception and was warmly embraced by the local public.
Ending on Madeira Drive, the classic car event which sees motor enthusiasts driving all the way from London was welcomed by the enthusiastic crowd.
The spectators waved in the cars in their hundreds, lining up along the seafront to get the best vantage point with which to appreciate the incoming drivers.
The day itself remained a success thanks to the bright sunny sky which lasted the whole duration to the delight of both participants and members of the public, although due to the winter temperatures approaching there was still a need for dressing warm and keeping away from the chilly breeze.
Drivers set out from London’s Hyde Park from the early hours of sunrise in the morning, getting ahead of any potential traffic and arriving into Brighton’s city centre at around 10am.
Vehicles involved cars dating back to 1984, with this being one of the 320 strong contingent that made the 60 mile long journey to the city.
In a show of the past embracing the future, six hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles, the Toyota Mirai, debuted on the run to highlight hydrogen’s potential in the race to decarbonise the motoring industry and to show that both businesses and the individual motorist can benefit from this new breakthrough.
