A Brighton bakery is sharing in Brighton & Hove Albion’s impressive run of form, with players buying rounds of coffee to celebrate matches in which the Seagulls keep a clean sheet.
The Flour Pot Bakery was invited to the club’s training ground to serve the first-team squad, with goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen usually picking up the tab.
Mariana Katsouris, from the bakery, told BBC Radio Sussex: “He always likes to treat the team and everyone else.”
Albion currently sit third in the Premier League after Sunday’s emphatic 5-0 victory over rivals Crystal Palace, which marked their fourth consecutive match without conceding a goal across all competitions.
For the independent bakery, the relationship has become a welcome way to celebrate the club’s success while supporting the local community.
“It’s a great honour to be part of their success and part of the journey this season,” Katsouris said.
“It’s great for us as they support a local independent business and we help them support their goals.”
