BRIGHTON, UK — 24 August 2026 — ACT Brighton is set to launch ACT Studio this autumn, creating a new home for its growing programme of acting classes, workshops and short courses alongside its established Foundation and Diploma training.
The new ACT Studio banner will bring together a number of the classes and workshops already offered by ACT Brighton while introducing additional training opportunities ranging from regular classes and intensive short courses to one-off workshops and specialist sessions.
The aim is to create a more flexible programme for actors and performers at different stages of their development, allowing participants to access focused professional training without necessarily committing to a full-time course.
Potential subjects include Acting Technique, Scene Study, Screen Acting, Self-Tape and Audition Technique, Shakespeare, as well as other areas of performance and professional development.
Importantly, ACT Brighton is asking its community to help determine what ACT Studio should offer.
A short survey has been launched asking current and prospective students which subjects they would most like to study and, crucially, the days and times when they would realistically be able to attend.
Participants completing the survey can also enter a draw to win a £100 ACT Brighton Gift Voucher, which can be used towards a future class or workshop.
The initiative reflects ACT Brighton’s intention to complement its longer-form professional training with a more accessible and adaptable programme for actors looking to continue developing their craft around work, auditions and other commitments.
Building on ACT Brighton’s Existing Training
ACT Studio will sit alongside ACT Brighton’s established Foundation and Diploma programmes, rather than replacing them.
The expanded programme is intended to provide another route into training for actors who want to concentrate on particular disciplines, refresh existing skills or work intensively on specific areas of their craft.
The launch comes as ACT Brighton continues to develop its programme at The Lantern Theatre, combining practical actor training with opportunities to explore performance in a working theatre environment.
This summer, the school is also running its Acting Intensive: Stanislavski & The Cherry Orchard, an intensive five-day programme taking place from 24–28 August 2026.
Led by tutor Daniel Finlay, the course uses scene work and practical exercises based around Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard to explore the Stanislavski Toolkit.
The week concludes with a script-in-hand performance at The Lantern Theatre on Friday evening in front of an invited audience.
The intensive runs Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, with the final performance at 7pm. The course fee is £350, with a £100 deposit option, and a limited number of places remain available.
Community to Help Shape What Comes Next
ACT Brighton is encouraging actors, former students and anyone interested in training at the school to take part in the ACT Studio survey ahead of the autumn launch.
The results will help determine not only which subjects are prioritised but how ACT Studio’s timetable is structured, with the intention of ensuring the programme responds to the practical needs of working and developing actors.
ACT Studio is expected to begin rolling out its first programme of classes and workshops this autumn, with further details to be announced following the consultation.
