American singer-songwriter – DEKKER – will be coming to Dust, Brighton as part of a UK tour this November (17 Nov).
With tour dates stacking up across the UK, Europe and beyond, it’s becoming clearer with each of his stellar singles that Brookln Dekker (aka Dekker and one-half of the Anglo-American Indie-Folk duo Rue Royale) is an exciting international artist unbound by country or region.
New release “I Won’t” is no different, and arrives fresh off the back of a busy festival season as the fourth track to be taken from Dekker’s highly anticipated third studio album ‘Future Ghosts’ (out 16 February 2024).
Recalling the works of Jose Gonzales or Kings of Convenience, “I Won’t” is a meditative, groove-laced alternative folk track that finds ruminative lyrics of loss uplifted by its headstrong bossa-tinted beats. Of the new track, Dekker explains:
“Confronted with the unbearable weight of loss, I turned to my greatest therapy and wrote this song. “I Won’t” is both about loss, and a defiant hope to hold on to what I can — even if only a memory”.
Mixed and mastered by Zach Hanson (Bon Iver, The Staves, Whitney) in Wisconsin, the new release sees Dekker continue to work with his long-time collaborator, drummer and co-producer Stefan Wittich.
The single also arrives as the US-based artist gears up for a UK headline tour this Winter, including an appearance at Brighton’s Dust venue. Tickets available now.
