Or if you’d rather play closer to home, you can play here as just one of the array of online casino sites available. In fact, a study that was conducted in the UK showed that the majority of those who gamble do so online.

Across the border, the US gambling market alone was worth a staggering $306.5 billion in 2018. So, let’s go global!

Did you know that different nations actually have their own variations of the popular games that you know and love? Read on to find out more about some of these intriguing international variants.

Keno

Keno is a game originating in China, and has been around for nearly 2,000 years. Its original name is Baige Piao which means ‘white pigeon ticket’, referencing the tickets that are used to play the game.

These tickets are adorned with grids which contain numbers, usually ranging from one to 80. To begin, you will have to circle as many numbers as you choose. Much like Bingo, balls or pellets will be randomly chosen and called. Prizes are paid according to how many of your numbers appear.

Puntobanco

A variant of the popular casino game Baccarat, Puntobanco originated in Havana, Cuba. Travelling to the United States in the 1940s, it grew in popularity. Although it’s very similar to Baccarat, each player’s moves are instead decided by the rules and the cards that they are dealt. Baccarat on the other hand, allows the player to make their own choices.

Puntobanco is perhaps not as popular as a classic game of Baccarat, but it is still played worldwide. It’s most commonly seen in Finland, Australia, Sweden and Canada, and can be played on some online sites.

American Roulette

A variation of Roulette, American Roulette features a wheel that is almost exactly the same as its European counterpart. However, unlike a classic Roulette wheel, the American variation includes a zero and a double zero, both set upon green pockets.

This version of the game is extremely popular in the casino capital of the world, Las Vegas. It’s also ready and waiting for you to try on an online casino site.

Pai gow Poker

Pai gow is a classic Chinese game played with dominoes. In 1985, Sam Torosian, who lived in the United States and owned the Bell Card Club, decided to transform the game into a Poker variant.

He substituted the traditional dominoes for cards, using a standard 52-card deck and one single Joker. The game involves six players and a dealer, and the aim is to defeat the banker, who could be either the dealer or one of the other players.
