Corbyn Cancels on Brighton: July 13 News Roundup

The weather has hardly been summery today and that isn’t set to stop – but loads happened in the city anyway. Here is a quick roundup of all the days headlines in case you were out of the loop!

Brighton has been hit with a weather warning for this evening. The Met Office has issued the South East with a yellow weather warning following persistent rain in the Capital earlier today. Brighton should expect “heavy rain and thunderstorms this evening” – so prepare for torrential downpour in some parts and don’t forget your umbrella.

Police in Essex are concerned that two people on the run might be in Sussex. Vegim Sokoli, 20, is wanted by Essex police for breaching his court bail conditions – he is a white male with black hair and stubble. He’s around 6ft 3ins tall. He is believed to be with a 19 year old companion by the name of Charlotte Leskos whose family have reported her missing and are anxious to hear from her. Charlotte is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall with brown hair. She was last seen wearing black trousers, a white t-shirt, mustard coloured jacket and leopard print Converse. Please contact 101 as soon as possible if you have any information.

Jeremy Corbyn has today cancelled a speech in Brighton. The Labour leader has cancelled his talk to head to London to attend an emergency NEC meeting with his party that could potentially decide his future position within the party. Support within the party for Corbyn is dwindling, however many Labour’s membership has risen exponentially as a cry of support for the leader.

Police are asking for witnesses after two lorries collided on the A27 near Lewes. The lorries collision caused major traffic disruptions as well as serious injury to one of the drivers involved. Three people have also been treated for shock and minor injuries.  Anyone who saw the collision or noticed either vehicle being driven shortly beforehand is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 231 of 11/07.
