Brighton has something to offer for every golfer: seasoned pro or complete novice, you’ll be sure to find the perfect course for you in this golfing hub. The city sits at the foot of the South Downs National Nature Reserve, meaning there’s endless land to play on and plenty of beautiful green spaces. From local legend Jack Nicklaud to current number one Jason Day, Brighton has multiple people vouching for its excellence. So, if you too want to play golf there, these are the top four courses that you should consider trying out.

Brighton and Hove Golf Club

With its stunning rural location and chilled atmosphere, Brighton and Hove Golf Club is a must for many experienced golfers in the area. It transferred into new management a couple of years ago, and the reviews are excellent. There are beautiful views to admire whilst you play golf, and a tasteful coffee shop to grab a hot drink and a slice of cake afterwards. We think this is really important – golf doesn’t just have to be a serious sport, it’s also a social activity!

East Brighton Golf Club

If you’re looking for a good game, you’ll be sure to find it at East Brighton Golf Club. This golf course has some excellent driving holes, and a few demanding uphill climbs for those who are looking for a really good workout. Don’t worry though, there’s an excellently stocked halfway house!

In addition to this, if you’re looking for somewhere to practice your skills before you head out onto the course, East Brighton Golf Club has exactly what you need. Complete with a putting green, the club is perfect for beginners getting to grips with basic skills, or professionals striving to improve their game. If you’re in need of a little extra guidance whilst you practice, you could bring putting training aids to the green with you. These are used by many of the world’s most successful golf players, and can help you to really hone your technique.

Piltdown Golf Club

Surrounded by breathtaking Sussex heathland, Piltdown Golf Club is somewhere you need to go for the views alone. With its challenging 18-hole course, the club offers an excellent game for everyone who turns up. Not only do they have a great outdoor course, but there’s also an undercover driving range, complete with club-fitting technology and a golf simulator. So, if you’re looking for an experience of luxury, Piltdown is the place.

East Sussex National Golf & Country Club

East Sussex National Golf Club offers their visitors a 36-hole course, played on by some of the best known golfers such as Sir Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie. Along with their two courses (East and West) East Sussex also hosts a prestigious Golf Academy. If you decide to join, you’ll receive year round tuition, unlimited access to practice facilities, and entry into the clubhouse.

At the end of the day, golf is an extremely personal sport. Where you choose to go depends on your budget, how often you want to go, where you live, and your skill level. It’s unlikely a complete beginner will require a pro shop, but an experienced golfer might opt for a 36-hole course as opposed to an 18-hole course. If you’re local to Brighton, or plan to visit in the near future, have fun  trying out some of these incredible courses, or even finding some courses of your own!
