Photo Fringe biennial open-platform photography festival returns for its tenth edition

Photo Fringe 2022: Real Utopias  6 – 30 October

Photo Fringe 2022 presents a vibrant mix of self-curated photography shows and work selected from open calls, online and in galleries, cafés, pop-up venues, outdoor installations plus other extraordinary spaces across Brighton & Hove and Sussex.

Lens-based practitioners of all career stages and working in any genre have been invited to join Photo Fringe’s mission to develop new ways of seeing together.

The festival includes work from over 140 artists, in around 30 locations across Sussex plus 70 online exhibitions.

Exhibiting photographers include: Rhiannon Adam, Anne-Marie Atkinson, Emily Graham, Åsa Johannesson, Baudouin Mouanda, Laura Pannack, Cole Flynn Quirke, Martin Seeds and Jon Tonks.

Full listings of all shows and events across the month plus online exhibitions will be live at photofringe.org from 6 October.

Festival Director, Claire Wearn says

“Photo Fringe is open to all and everyone’s invited. Our theme this year is Real Utopias. It’s a call to action for exhibitors and audiences to explore how photography can help us imagine a brighter, greener, fairer world. Real utopias exist on the periphery of the mainstream, demonstrating what could be possible. They take the here and now as a starting point for dreaming and visualising a better future.”
