Popkids at Komedia Brighton delivered an energetic and family-friendly afternoon with music, dancing, magic and interactive entertainment.
The Greatest Showman theme was prominent with costumes and music from the film played throughout the 90 minutes. The show was hosted with enthusiasm, featuring a packed schedule of party dances, games and prize giveaways, ensuring plenty of audience participation.
The main host was bubbly and confident, leading the dances and games. Bubbles the Clown was the firm favourite with the children, grinning from ear as you performed magic tricks, blew bubbles and pied people in the face.
Beyond the main stage, there were extra attractions such as face painting and popcorn, available at an additional cost.Â
Music played a central role throughout the event with the DJ playing mostly 90s and early 00s dance tracks. While this nostalgic playlist was a hit with parents, a wider selection including more modern children’s favourites or well-known Disney songs would have made it more appealing for the younger audience as they started to lose steam during the ‘rave’ section.
There was a guest appearance from a Bearded Lady lookalike from The Greatest Showman. Although the performance added to the theme, it was a lip-synced act that could have benefited from more energy or live singing to create a stronger impact.
Overall, Popkids created a fun and lively atmosphere, making it an enjoyable and interactive experience for children and parents.
