A 27-year-old man has been charged after he made threats, including claims of possessing an explosive device outside Brighton Railway Station.
Corey Moss, of no fixed address was taken into custody and put into detention ahead of questioning after the incident, before later being charged with two counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He has now been remanded in custody and was to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 17th) to answer for these charges.
Sussex Police have since been able to confirm to the public that he was not in possession of any explosive material at the time.
The armed unit have also carried out a further search of the area, with no other evidence being found.
Sussex Police were called to the scene at around 4am on Sunday morning after reports were made that a man was heard to be vocally making these claims and causing panic for the public.
The station was closed temporarily while the investigations took place, with a safety cordon being erected as a precaution to allow a full enquiry to be carried out.
Speaking on behalf of the Sussex Police, Supt Justin Burtenshaw said “This is being treated as an isolated incident and there is not thought to be any threat to the public at this time.
“The cordon has now been lifted and train services have now resumed from Brighton Railway Station.
“Officers remain at the scene working in conjunction with the British Transport Police to carry out further enquiries.”
