Business owners in Brighton are being offered free ice cream on New Road (Saturday 25th July) to ‘help ease summer tax stress’ ahead of the first ever Making Tax Digital deadline.
Making Tax Digital (MTD) is widely considered as the biggest change to the UK tax system in 30 years, and its first deadline lands in just a matter of days on Friday 7th August. However, new research from business management platform Tide reveals that 46% of qualifying business owners in the South East are yet to sign up with HMRC for MTD.
Beyond this, 85% of qualifying business owners in the UK don’t know how many times they’ll need to file, and Tide’s data estimates a £1.5 billion loss in revenue for UK small businesses trying to get to grips with the change.
Where can business owners in Brighton get their free ice cream?
To help ease this switching stress and put an end to the MTD confusion, Tide will be ‘Making Tax Delicious’ in a branded ice cream van on Brighton, New Road – with free flavours including ‘Self Assess-mint’, ‘VATnilla’ and ‘PAYE-stachio’ (plus a ‘Declare your Hundreds and Thousands’ topping).
The free scoops will be offered alongside in-person insights from Tide’s MTD experts and local business influencer @calluminbrighton.
