York Place Issues 15,473 Parking Tickets in a Year, Topping Brighton & Hove List

Brighton, 11 August 2026 — York Place was the most heavily enforced road in Brighton & Hove in the 2025-26 financial year, with 15,473 penalty charge notices issued, according to figures obtained from Brighton & Hove City Council.

The road topped the rankings by more than 4,000 notices. St Peter’s Place followed with 11,297 PCNs and North Street third with 10,616. Between them, the three locations accounted for 37,386 penalties — each issuing more than 10,000 in a single year.

Across the ten most-ticketed locations, 75,151 PCNs were issued.

The figures show enforcement concentrated on the city’s central and arterial routes. York Place, St Peter’s Place and Marlborough Place form a continuous stretch of the A23 running north from the Old Steine — three of the top six locations sit within a few hundred metres of one another, and together account for 32,980 notices.

North Street, Western Road and Oxford Street cover the main retail spine through the city centre. London Road, Preston Road and Lewes Road are the principal approaches into Brighton from the north and east.

Madeira Drive is the only seafront location in the top ten, with 4,359 notices.
