It’s safe to say that all eyes in the football universe are on the World Cup. The tournament has been a fascinating affair, full of twists and turns. Add to the excitement England’s first knockout round win since 2006, and first ever World Cup penalty shootout success, and you have one of the best tournaments to date.

However, while the world watches, Albion are plugging away at a series of high-profile, possibly transformative transfers.

Superstars Neymar and Mbappé make Essende’s first-team PSG chances unrealistic

Goal and HITC are among a range of sources reporting a possible swoop for 20-year-old Samuel Essende. The talented starlet has come to the end of his contract with Champions League giants Paris St Germain. However, despite being offered a new contract by the club, he refused it. It seems he wants more playing time, with Albion fighting Belgium outfit for Anderlecht for his services. This signing would be a major coup for Hughton’s side.

Bernardo’s form has made heads turn

Brighton are also linked with another young star. 23-year-old Bernardo Fernandes da Silva Junior is linked with the club, according to HITC and The Sun. The left-back currently plays for RB Leipzig, a flourishing side who featured in last years Champions League. Bernado played 27 times last season, establishing himself in the side, but reportedly wants a new challenge. It is believed he’d cost a rather substantial £9 million, but he would hugely enhance the side.

Carson has been impressive at Derby County

Finally, Albion are linked with a surprise move for a rather forgotten figure. Scott Carson broke into England’s starting line-up back in 2007. He was then in his early 20’s and touted as the next big thing. However, after a howler which contributed to England missing out on the 2008 Euro’s, he failed to establish himself at a major club afterwards. The keeper, who now plays for Frank Lampard’s Derby, has been linked with Albion for around £2.5 million. The 32-year-old would assumedly be a back-up to the stellar Matt Ryan.
