Brighton gets first taste of Bianca Del Rio’s new show. The drag comedy icon and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner opens her 2027 UK and Ireland tour, It Gets Bitter, at Brighton Dome on Wednesday 31 March 2027.
The seventh solo stand-up show from the self-styled “Clown in a Gown” celebrates 30 years in drag, and, in her own words, “three decades of hating everything you stand for.”
Meaner Than Ever
Known offstage as Roy Haylock, Bianca Del Rio shot to fame as the breakout star and winner of season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The New York Times dubbed her the “Joan Rivers of the Drag World”, and she has built her comedy on snarky honesty, impeccable timing and a willingness to say what everyone else is thinking.
“There’s a lot going on in the world today, and I have a lot to say about it,” she said. “The old saying is ‘It gets better’, but I’m proof that after 30 years in drag ‘IT GETS BITTER’!!”
The new show turns her razor-sharp tongue on the absurdities of modern life, from pop culture and world events to the everyday habits that drive her to the brink. It combines tightly written stand-up with her legendary quick wit and spontaneous audience interaction.
A word of warning for anyone easily offended: choose your seats carefully. In classic Bianca fashion, the front row is a firing squad.
Beyond the Stage
Away from stand-up, Bianca has starred in the films Hurricane Bianca and Hurricane Bianca 2: From Russia with Hate, and in comedy specials including Rolodex of Hate and Not Today, Bianca. She made her West End debut in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, is the author of Blame It On Bianca Del Rio, and returns to television in season six of The Traitors US.
Demand for the tour is already high. She has added a second London Palladium date on Friday 16 April 2027, the final night of the tour.
Brighton Local
Opening night in Brighton makes sense for a performer with a huge following in one of the UK’s best-loved LGBTQ+ cities. Brighton Dome’s 2027 line-up continues to grow, including Kula Shaker’s K-Reinkarnate tour. Comedy fans can also catch political satirist Rosie Holt, and James B Partridge’s Big Christmas Assembly at the Theatre Royal this winter.
