ula Shaker are going back to where it all started. The band have announced K-Reinkarnate, a complete new analogue re-recording of their 1996 debut album K, released on 5 February 2027 to mark 30 years since the record went to No.1.
This is not a remastered box set or a dusted-off reissue. Crispian Mills, Alonza Bevan, Paul Winter-Hart and Jay Darlington went into Middle Farm Studios and recorded the album again, live to two-inch tape. It comes out on the band’s own label, Strange F.O.L.K. Records.
The first taste is a new version of ‘Govinda’, the Sanskrit-sung single that made Kula Shaker one of the most distinctive bands of the Britpop era. The video is out now.
Old Songs, Finished at Last
The new album goes beyond the original tracklist. It draws on material from the first K sessions, including ‘Shower Your Love’, ‘Hush’ and ‘Drop in the Sea’. The most intriguing addition is ‘She’s So Free’, a song left unfinished in 1996. The band have now completed it, blending a recovered recording from the original sessions with new performances.
For fans who grew up with the record, it is a rare chance to hear a band revisit their defining moment with three decades of experience behind them.
Brighton Local Angle

It follows a busy season of 90s and 80s favourites returning to the city, with Sleeper at Brighton Dome and Echo & The Bunnymen also heading this way. Brighton’s appetite for guitar music remains strong, from the big rooms down to grassroots venues like The Pipeline.
