Armed Police Called to St James’ Street After Attempted Robbery Involving Weapons

A man is being questioned after an armed robbery in Brighton this morning.

Police say a man with a gun demanded money from Dyke Road News in Dyke Road and a post office in St James’ Street.

Firearms officers were called to North Street at 10:20 GMT and arrested a suspect.

Officers recovered an imitation firearm, a hammer and a lock knife from the scene.

Witnesses have reported that the scene involved the accused threatening people with what they believed to be a gun, whilst wielding a hammer and a knife.
