Due to the ever troubling refugee crisis in Europe, Ben and Jerry’s are teaming up with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Bedford Square today to give out free scoops of ice cream in exchange for a signature.

“Imagine closing your front door without knowing if you’ll ever be able to return”, claim the IRC on their website.

“For many”, they claim, “this is reality. Right now, record numbers of people are being forced to flee their homes due to war and persecution. Meanwhile, Europe’s response to the refugee crisis has been inadequate.”

The aim of this campaign is to bring together the public and convince European leaders to support an old piece of legislation that would benefit refugees and help them safely resettle in Europe.

So get down to Bedford Square today to indulge in Ben and Jerry’s ‘food for thought’, in the form of their new flavour Home Sweet Honeycomb.

Or if ice cream isn’t your thing yet you still want to make a difference, you can enter your name and email address on their website.
