Riddle & Finns @ Meeting House Lane

This upscale hidden gem serves some of the best seafood that our city has to offer. Working with an open kitchen and serving oysters, champagne and other classic dishes, Riddle & Finns is a true favourite among locals and tourists alike. The restaurant offers a luxurious feel inside with marble-topped tables and warm lighting, but that’s not all there is to it. They offer an extensive menu including calamari, clam chowder, scallops, lobster and more as well as a 2-course set menu for lunch times and pre-theatre dining.

English’s Of Brighton @ East St

Another local favourite is oyster bar, English’s of Brighton. Providing Brighton with delicious seafood since 1945, English’s began as a family business and has remained that way ever since. Adding to their authenticity, this eatery is based in a trio of old fisherman’s cottages. English’s offers the best of both worlds with a marble-topped oyster bar as well as a cosy dining room to sit back and relax with friends and family. Again, they offer a huge menu with everything you’d expect from a shellfish shop.

Jack & Linda Mills Traditional Fish Smokers @ Kings Road Arches

If you’re looking for somewhere a little more casual but with a lot of flavour, check out Jack & Linda Mills down on the seafront. With rave reviews, this place is certainly a hidden gem that once you’ve found, you’ll be begging to go back to. Serving up plaice goujons (aka posh fish fingers), fresh crab rolls, hot kippers, smoked mackerel and more, this is a great eatery to swing by for an affordable taste of the seaside. Run by a local couple, (Jack & Linda, if you couldn’t guess), you’ll get a true taste of authenticity if you visit this traditional smokehouse!
