For the very first time, Devonshire Park Theatre welcomes the sensational Oceanaires Big Band, joined by one of Britain’s finest jazz vocalists, Clare Teal on Sunday 24 May at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne.

With a rich history of thrilling audiences nationwide, the Oceanaires have graced some of the UK’s most prestigious stages, including an acclaimed appearance at the Royal Albert Hall. Their yet-to-be-released debut album captures the band’s vibrant sound, honed through performances alongside the legendary Chris Dean and collaborations with the world-renowned Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
Now, they bring their powerhouse sound and sparkling stage presence to Eastbourne for a one-night-only celebration of timeless swing and jazz. From toe-tapping Basie numbers to velvety ballads in the style of Ella and Sinatra, this will be a night for music lovers of all ages.
Clare Teal is a celebrated British jazz singer, radio presenter, and recording artist known for her powerful voice and passionate advocacy for the Great American Songbook. She developed a love for music at an early age and her career blossomed in the early 2000s, and she quickly became recognised as one of the UK’s leading jazz vocalists.
She has released numerous acclaimed albums blending classic jazz standards with her own contemporary interpretations, as well as original compositions. Among her many accolades are British Jazz Awards, underscoring her influence on the modern jazz scene.
In addition to her recording career, Clare Teal is widely known for her work as a broadcaster, having hosted jazz and big band programmes on BBC Radio 2 for over 15 years. Her efforts have significantly contributed to keeping swing, big band, and traditional jazz music alive for new generations.
