A bin lorry caught fire and dumped tonnes of waste onto a residential street.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at 11.27am today to Natal Road, Brighton, to reports of a bin truck fire.
The cause of the incident is currently unknown.
A spokeswoman from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two fire engines are at the scene.
“Crews are using two hose reels to put out a fire affecting around 5 tonnes of waste. Please avoid the area.
“The fire was out by 12.05 and we left the scene shortly afterwards.”
It occurred near Mithras House at the University of Brighton.
