Head down to Marwoods Café this Thursday (March 3rd) to support former On The Radar stars Wildflowers in their plight to raise money for the refugees in Calais. The band will be doing a five date tour in Bristol, Windsor, Brighton, Hastings and finally performing in ‘The Jungle’ in Calais.
The band, who have resided in both Bristol and Brighton consists of sisters Siddy and Kit Bennett, James Ashbury and Kendal Sant. Since forming in 2012 the band have gone from strength to strength having supported Robert Plant and Tom Odell as well as performing Glastonbury and SXSW in Texas, where they were approached by Detroit label Original 1265 Recordings. Half produced in Detroit and Brighton, their album On The Inside is a ‘bouquet of blissful melodies’. Their new song Chemistry has made it onto the BBC Radio 2 Playlist in January.
The band were inspired to do their Calais tour by a friend of Siddy Bennett’s, who has been out in Calais over the past five months and blogging about her experiences. Bennett told The Argus “Her posts, filled with passion, anger, helplessness, kept niggling away at me. When it was raining solidly in early January, and I was warm and cosy, I couldn’t stop thinking about everyone in The Jungle.”
You can listen to Wildflowers on their website. They will be playing at Marwoods on Thursday at 8pm. You can find out more about their chosen charity, Care4Calais here.
