Brighton Pair Charlie Grice and Sebastian (Seb) Rodger have been included in Team GB’s athletics squad to take to the Olympic games in Brazil’s Rio De Janerio. The Pair 22 and 25 will be competing at their first-ever Olympic Games. They are amongst an 80-athlete squad which was revealed yesterday afternoon.
Rodgers (left) and Grice will now showcase their talents on Athletic’s biggest stage.
Grice 22, from Brighton is 1,500m runner whilst Rodger will be competing for the 400m hurdle team. Grice who last month retained his British title had all but confirmed his place on the plane to Rio, whilst Rodger’s who had hit out at British Athletic’s bosses for omitting him from the European Championship due to a controversial selection criteria now well and truly has a point to prove in South America.
Rodgers was clearly thrilled with his inclusion in the squad writing on Twitter:  “I am so happy and excited to finally announce that I am officially going to the Olympics! This is a dream come true!”
The duo also competed for Team GB at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
Watch Grice, Rodger and all of Team GB throughout August with the opening ceremony being held on Friday 5th August and the games running for just over two weeks ending on Sunday 21st August. We wish Gricey, Seb and all at Team GB the best of luck!
