Temporary changes to catchment areas in Brighton and Hove are being considered.

On Monday the 18th September, catchment areas for children starting school next September will be discussed by councillors.

The city’s cross-party working group on school admissions recommended a change to the areas because of the delayed opening of the new secondary free school by the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

Due to an increase in secondary school pupils some catchment areas won’t have enough places for each child to have a place at a school.

The changes will only be temporary until the new free school opens.

A final decision will be made in the new year after proposals have been subject to public consultation.
