Dawn Again is a unique theatrical experience – a hectic, hilarious soap opera set in an NHS maternity ward, with every line of dialogue rapped.
Government special adviser Elliot has a problem. His two girlfriends are giving birth on the same day in the same hospital. To keep his infidelities secret, he needs the reluctant support of overworked midwife, Liz, but things are much more complicated than even Elliot can imagine.
Cloudy Clouds wrote Dawn Again after the success of his short on-screen rap opera Uber Pool – a domestic drama played out in a shared taxi ride.
Actor and comedian Edmund Fargher (ITV’s Keith Lemon: Coming in America, BBC3 and ITV2 comedy sketches and award-winning web pilot Sideliners) also stars as Elliot’s boss, an MP who is superficially charming but has questionable morals.
A finalist in the LET (Les Enfants Terribles) 2022 Awards for “exceptional emerging artists”, Dawn Again is directed by Claudio’s sister, theatre-maker Rafaela Elliston. She explains: “My job is to take Claudio’s witty lyrics & zany ideas & to use clever set design, creative choreography & the audience’s imagination to put together a mixed-up, modern-day farce for fringe theatre”.
