Storm Doris has well and truly got the better of the i360, which will now be closed to the public until Wednesday (1 March).
The seafront attraction was declared out of action for the weekend on Friday (24 February) after passengers were stranded for 90 minutes. The original closure period was set to end yesterday, but will now continue until Tuesday (28 February).
The storm, which battered Britain with winds of up to 94 mph, damaged a data cable at the observation tower. During the technical difficulties on Friday’s 15:30 flight free drinks and pop-up toilets were offered to the 127 visitors on board.

A spokeswoman for the attraction said: “The safety and security of our guests is our number one priority and we have evacuation procedures in place.
“These procedures have been developed in consultation with, and approved by, the emergency services.”
A statement from the i360 assured visitors their pre-booked tickets for the dates affected will be valid for 3 months and customers can to visit on another day of their choosing. Refunds are also being offered to those who call the customer services team on 03337 720 360 between 9 am and 5:30 pm.
