Brighton, August 2024 – Komedia Brighton is thrilled to announce the return of Down The Hatch, our award-winning queer and alternative comedy club, this Autumn. Fresh off winning the ‘Best Comedy Format’ award at the 2024 Chortle Awards, Down The Hatch is set to deliver another season of groundbreaking comedy, featuring an exciting lineup of some of the most diverse and dynamic voices in the comedy scene today.
A Platform for Marginalized Voices
At Komedia, we have always valued diversity and creativity, and we are committed to providing a platform for marginalized voices within the comedy community. Down The Hatch is more than just a comedy show—it’s a space where queer and alternative performers can showcase their talents, challenge stereotypes, provoke thought, and bring people together through the universal language of laughter.
Autumn Line-Up Highlights
This season, Down The Hatch will be hosted by our hilarious resident MC, Lee Peart, and features a stellar lineup of performers, including:
- Josh Glanc – One of Australia’s “most exciting emerging talents” (The Age), and Winner of the Critic’s Choice Award at Perth Fringe 2023.
- Dane Buckley – LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year Finalist 2022 and one of Skiddle.com’s best up-and-coming stand-up comedians in 2023.
- Daniel Foxx – Viral sensation and NextUp ‘Biggest Award in Comedy’ Nominee 2023, with appearances on BBC One, BBC Three, ITV, and Comedy Central.
- Lachlan Werner – The “funniest new ventriloquist on the block” (Telegraph), winner of the ReviewsHub Best Show Award and nominee for a Soho Playhouse New York Award.
- Jess Fostekew – Host of the Hoovering podcast, as heard/seen on Guilty Feminist and Motherland, and Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show Nominee 2019.
- Joe Kent-Walters – Creator of Frankie Monroe, Winner of the 2023 BBC New Comedy Award, and ‘Best Show’ winner at Leicester Comedy Festival.
- Riggs – BBC New Comedy Award Nominee and Leicester Square New Comedian of The Year Nominee 2023.
- Robert White – Runner-up in Britain’s Got Talent 2018, known for his “souped-up risqué keyboard-based songs, waspish asides, and neurotically charged camperie” (Telegraph).
Supporting the Brighton Rainbow Fund Charity
This season, Down The Hatch is proud to partner with The Brighton Rainbow Fund Charity, a central hub for community fundraising for LGBTQIA+ and HIV support projects in Brighton & Hove. Audience members will have the opportunity to contribute to this vital cause through optional ticket donations at the online checkout and via QR codes at the show.
