Sussex Police target The Level as it aims on a city-wide crackdown on drug dealing.
Sussex Police as part of a concerted effort to tackle drug problems in the city centre have arrested five individuals on suspicion of drug dealing in the popular central Brighton park The Level.
The suspected drug dealers were brought to officers attentions when they were seen acting suspiciously in the park’s vicinity. They were all eventually detained after four of them had fled after being alerted to the officers advances towards their group.
One of the group was just a 17-year-old boy who was found with large quantities of both class As and Bs on him, he was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply heroin and cannabis and for obstructing a police officer’s right to carry out a search. Pending further enquiry he has been bailed until 7 October.
A second member of the group was also just a teenager, this man, just 18 was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis whilst a third member of the group a 22-year-old man was detained on suspicion with intent to supply a class A drug.
Another member of the group was arrested on suspicion with intent to supply cannabis, and the further offence of being involved in the supply of cannabis and was also accused of obstructing a police officer’s right to carry out a search.
A final member of the group a 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine and obstructing a police officer’s right to carry out a search.
Every member of the group minus the 17-year-old minor have been released on bail until 2 September with these arrests being carried out last month.

“We had received complaints and concerns from residents and users of the skate park at The Level about suspicious behaviour and suspected drug dealing.
“The area is especially busy at this time of the year during the summer school holiday. We will continue to target drug dealing in the area and arrest anyone who we suspect to be in possession of drugs or supplying them at The Level.”
