Our City Dances

£FreeThis year, we’re partnering with Communitas Dance and Circus Street to present our free festival of dance Our City Dances. Join us for a relaxed day of feel-good community fun, including free workshops from Zumba with Mon, Streetfunk, and Bollywood Dance from Rainbow Bhangra; as well as food & drink, stalls, crafts and giant games.

 

Meet our Associate Teacher 

We are really excited to welcome Marta Moreta Recio to The Dance Space, as our very first South East Dance Associate Teacher. We are supporting Marta to launch her Solo Latin Flow classes here as part of our Autumn 2026 Season. Marta is running a FREE taster class on Tue 21 July, 6pm. Book a space here.

Lion Dance Bursaries

Apply by Friday 31 July, 6pm for one of 10 £100 bursaries for a 12-week training programme led by Palaye Seck in the Simb Senegalese Lion Dance, culminating in a professional performance. Artists of African heritage and/or living on a low income are eligible to apply.

Join Sharanya Chakraborty to explore what Indian Classical dance philosophy can offer contemporary movers and performance-makers today. You will explore the creative principles, movement language and philosophical foundations of Odissi, an Indian classical dance form originating in Eastern India. Brighton Fringe Award winner 

Congratulations to Elle Dillon-Reams, whose theatrical hybrid of poetry, clowning, cabaret and dance, MEAT, was the winner of our 2026 Fringe Award for Most Outstanding Dance Production. As part of the award, Elle won 20 hours of free studio space at The Dance Space, a mentoring session, and a slot in The Nest’s Best of Brighton Fringe weekend, in association Chichester Festival Theatre.

£PayWhatYouCanA weekend workshop for anyone curious about exploring movement in relationship with nature, offering a chance to move, connect, and express yourself creatively within the beautiful chalk landscape of the South Downs. Led by Korina Biggs, Mim King, Yumino Seki, and Clare Whistler.
