A Masterpiece Reimagined By Oldfield’s Closest Collaborator
Spanning three landmark albums over 27 years, Mike Oldfield’s visionary Tubular Bells series is a testament to musical innovation. First composed when Oldfield was just 17 years old, the original 1973 album became a global cultural phenomenon. Its sequels, Tubular Bells II (1992) and Tubular Bells III (1998), continued to push theatrical boundaries, famously featuring in momentous events like the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Conductor and arranger Robin Smith met Mike Oldfield over 30 years ago. He has spent more than three decades collaborating with the composer, conducting Tubular Bells performances at iconic destinations including Edinburgh Castle, Horse Guards Parade, and the London Olympics.
