Winter’s on its way, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be going out and having some fun in and around Brighton and Hove. You’ll find a vast collection of traditional entertainment venues around the city, but here, we’re shining the spotlight on some of the more novel choices in the area. Whether you and your group want to compete in a TV game show, escape some zany situation, or enjoy the razzmatazz of cabaret, there’s something unique to find and enjoy.
Putting Patrons in the Hot Seat of a Game Show
Brighton’s TV Gameshow is a fully immersive experience within the North Laine Brewhouse that puts you and all of your companions in the middle of a classic TV game show. Lasting around an hour, the collection of tasks, questions, and events draws from huge hits like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, The Generation Game, and the very popular Taskmaster. Booking TV Gameshow also gives you access to free games of interactive darts, shuffleboard, or cornhole for an hour, with booking prices starting at £18.
TV game shows have long been very popular in the UK, with several different ones running at once across free-to-view television channels throughout the year. Everyone watching at home plays along, often reckoning they can do better, but the shows themselves can only have so many contestants – meaning that many never get a shot. This is well understood across entertainment, and is a big part of the rise of online live game shows that can be played from home for real prizes. There’s a whole section dedicated to the casino live game shows now, from new and novel games to tweaked classics.
You’ll find Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Live Roulette, The Money Drop Live, Family Feud Live from Las Vegas, and Deal or No Deal: The Big Draw alongside the likes of The Greatest Cards show, Mega Fire Blaze Lucky Ball Live, and Buffalo Blitz Live. All have been created and run live throughout the day to meet the demand for game show experiences.
Escaping Many Different Rooms
The fad is still going strong in Brighton, meaning that you have several choices for a great escape room experience. Top of the list for many is Pier Pressure, as it’s loaded with different themed rooms to escape, challenges to complete, and options for an event, such as murder mystery-style options. The Lift Escape Rooms is also a strong competitor for the range of escape room themes and the uniqueness of those challenges, and Clue Company leans more into the classic detective kind of setting.
Bewilder Box hosts two story-driven settings and has been known to pop up at major events with its mobile escape experiences. The Bewilder Box Initiative is a retro-futuristic experience that puts you in the middle of a missing persons mystery. Judgement D.A.V.E. also plays with the futuristic, sci-fi setting, but leans more into the comedy side of things while, clearly, being heavily inspired by T2.
The full cabaret experience
Over on St Georges Road, at the 1893 Grade II listed building, you’ll find the all-in entertainment venue Madam Lola’s Cabaret & Vaudeville. A complete transformation from what you’ll see from the outside, a night here is complete with world-class cabaret artists, a fun-loving crowd, and a dizzying array of aerialists, drag stars, and dancers who craft a fully immersive occasion for all visitors.Â
If you want to try something different in Brighton, consider these options as great places to start.Â
