Have you ever daydreamed about running your own cafe? If the smell of freshly ground coffee roasting away as you look out to the sea over the heads of satisfied customers sounds idyllic, then maybe there is an opportunity for you on the lower promenade. But be quick, there’s less than a week left to apply for the lease on an exciting plot near the popular i360.
Brighton and Hove Council are offering newly built shell unit on a 15 year lease for A3 use next to ‘Murmur Restaurant’ on the lower promenade of the Brighton seafront.
The property, known as 85-90 Kings Road Arches, is situated on the lower promenade in Kings Road, east of the British Airways i360 visitor attraction. The property overlooks the Piazza which has recently been extensively landscaped.
The body in charge of assessing applications is looking for independent operators who can provide a high quality catering business to fill this space, so if you think this describes you then why not get an application together? Well, apart from the obvious financial obstacles!
The space will cost £30,000 p.a to rent before any extra costs are taken into account, with a three month free rent period to allow the unit to be decorated and and fitted out.
The property is for A3 use as a café/restaurant, with the adjoining restaurant, trading as ‘Murmur’, being let to Michael Bremner of ‘64 Degrees’. Other tenants in the new adjoining arches include the Nigel Rose Gallery, Elsie & Betts Ladies Boutique and Rebound, a vintage clothing store.
An area of approximately 4m by 15m will be offered by way of a patio licence as per the adjoining restaurant. The licence fee for the current year is fixed City-wide at £24 per m2.
The closing date for applications is 23 October 2017 followed by a shortlisting of the proposals and interviews. If you are interested then contact Jane Pinnock Seafront Estates Surveyor at [email protected] or 01273 290568.
