Tomorrow at The Level, something very interesting will be happening. Organised by Feedback Global, Brighton and Hove Food Partnership, Brighton and Hove City Council, both Sussex and Brighton University and many more, Feeding the 5000 is an event not to be missed. Feeding the 5000 is Feedback’s flagship campaign and their first event was held in Trafalgar Square in London in 2009. Since then, Feeding the 5000 events have been held in cities all over the world. The campaign was started to shed light on the global food waste scandal, and to highlight just how much food is thrown away. At each event, they serve a communal feast for 5000 people made entirely out of food that would have otherwise been thrown away.

Not only will there be a communal feast to look forward to tomorrow, but there will also be guest speakers such as Tristram Stuart, the founder of Feeding the 5000, Caroline Lucas MP, Olly Dawson (Olly’s Fish Shack) as well as many others. There will also be stalls full of information about tackling food waste as well as workshops for all ages to help people get creative with how they can reduce food wastage. There will also be cookery demonstrations, and not to mention the fact that they will be handing out bowls and bowls of free food. The event will take place on The Level from 11am until 3pm. So if you’re thinking of something to do with the kids tomorrow, want to know more about what the Brighton and Hove community can do about reducing food waste or just really want a free lunch, head down to Feeding the 500. Did we mention there was free food? If you want to find out more about Feedback, go to their website http://feedbackglobal.org/
