The rising Canadian singer-songwriter visits Brighton as part of her first major European tour, following the release of the Deluxe Edition of her acclaimed fourth album ‘Golden’
Brighton Journal is delighted to welcome Canadian folk-pop artist Geneviève Racette to the city as part of her Spring 2026 UK Tour. Racette plays Brighton’s intimate Folklore Rooms on Saturday 3 May, supported by local artist Danni Nichols.
The Brighton date forms part of a five-date UK run timed with the release of Golden (Deluxe Edition), the expanded version of Racette’s fourth studio album, which arrived earlier this year to warm critical praise. The collection brings together some of her most celebrated work — including “From Friends to Strangers”, “Same Old Me” (nominated for Single of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards) and recent single “Common Denominator” — alongside three newly recorded versions of previously released songs.
Ahead of the tour, Racette released the music video for album focus track “Come As You Are” — a dreamy, ethereal reinterpretation of the iconic Nirvana hit she has been performing since her teenage years. Directed by Catherine Deslauriers and Steve Gagnon, the video captures Racette in a slowed-down state as the world rushes around her, with scenes of women dancing around a campfire lending a mystical, cinematic quality to the reimagining. Racette’s Golden debuted at number three on the Folk Alliance International charts in 2024, while her single “The Reasons (I’ll Be Alright)” featured in the hit Canadian TV series Heartland. Her European debut at The Great Escape Festival marked a significant moment in her growing international presence, and this UK tour represents her most ambitious European run to date.
With over 80% of her creative collaborators being women, Racette has built a deeply collaborative, women-driven artistic practice rooted in authenticity, vulnerability and resilience. Her performances at Osheaga, AmericanaFest, Folk Alliance International and Canadian Music Week have established her as one of contemporary folk-pop’s most distinctive and moving voices.
