Brighton is no stranger to running events, with several well-known runs taking place each year, including the Brighton Marathon in April, but on Saturday 19th May the city will see it’s first Music Run, brought to you by the team behind Brighton and Hove Triathalon. The whole event is aimed to encourage people to get out and have fun whilst running, regardless of their age or ability.
However, very much unlike the Brighton Marathon, this run is completely untimed, and runners are described as ‘fun runners’, and are encouraged to run, sing or dance their way around the 5k course.
Almost the entire course, which begins at Madeira Drive, and carries on all the way to Duke’s Mound will be lined with speakers blaring music. They’re catering for all tastes, with a huge mix of up-beat and lively genres, with music from the likes of DJ Shiv, Jack the Lad, Zodiac Allstars, Urban City Dance and Silver Sounds.
Both music and running are best enjoyed together, so why not gather your friends and family and take part as a group – the team are offering discounts to groups of 4 or more. There will also be a fantastic competition on the day for Best Fancy Dress, so be sure to check out their website for outfit inspiration!
The team are also looking for volunteers, so if you love idea of a Music Run, but aren’t quite up to taking part, make sure you look out for their volunteering opportunities – more info can be found here.
Maybe Music Runs will even become the new Colour Run – either way, what’s not to like about having fun whilst getting fit? If you’re interested in taking part, you can get all the information you need on their website, and be sure to take a look at their Facebook page.
