As always, we have handpicked a selection of some for the best gigs on in Brighton and Hove for you. This week the sound ranges from jazz, psychedelia, LoFi and Indie. We are also lucky to have The Blockheads (the people behind “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick), performing in Brighton on Friday night,

Simon Bates Trio @ The Paris House, Monday 10th June

Simon is renowned for a unique technical and versatility in his sound. He has played all musical genres around the world in a wide variety of settings, including at the Eifell Tower! In the jazz world he is recognised as one of England’s leading jazz saxophonists and performs regularly at respected UK venues and festivals.

RADIDAS and more @ The Prince Albert, Tuesday 11th June

Brighton based electronic two-piece band RADIDAS, infuse contemporary dance music with underground psychedelia, to create a unique and fresh sound. They will be joined at The Prince Albert by Glass Mountain, Lelo and Tin Foil Astronaut.

Comforts @ Rialto Theatre, Wednesday 12th June

The Comforts are a new four-piece band from Brighton, who play current indie pop with a classic twist ” with a classic twist of amped-up guitars and catchy choruses”. They will be joined at Rialoto this Wednesday by Voodoo & the Crypts and Phantom Isle.

1-800 Girls @ Concorde 2, Thursday 13th June

De La Disque is a collective of DJ’s from Brighton, who aim to host the best disco, house, funk and soul sounds in town. They are kicking off summer with Brighton Sunset Sessions, where they will be joined by Lo-Fi House sensation 1-800 girls.

The Blockheads @ The Old Market, Friday 14th June

Legendary The Blockheads have been holding it down since they first got together in 1977. This is the band that brought you ‘Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick’, ‘What A Waste’, ‘Reasons to be Cheerful (Part 3)’, and ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’, among many others.

Jesse Malin @ The Haunt, Saturday 15th June

Native New York singer/ songwriter Jesse Malin will perform all of the seminal Indie/ Americana album ‘The Fine Art Of Self Destruction’ as well as tracks from his other six albums.

Declan Welsh & The Decadent West @ Komedia, Sunday 16th June

Declan Welsh is a songwriter and poet from Glasgow. Joined by his band, The Decadent West, he creates music that carries the message of humanity. Their sound has been “unapologetic” “direct” and “sensational”.
