It’s officially my favourite time of the year. The time of year when all the festival line-ups are slowly being announced. The line-up for Coachella was announced a few weeks ago much to everyone’s delight but today the announcement is a little closer to home. The Great Escape Festival have announced another 100 names to their line-up, including some of the best upcoming bands in the music scene.

The festival, held in Brighton every year, is famous for its showcasing of incredible new talent and has played host to some bands that have become some of the most established and well respected bands in the business. The festival has seen the likes of The Cribs, Ex-Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, The Maccabees, Albert Hammond Jr (previously of The Strokes), Brightonians Royal Blood, Vampire Weekend, Bon Iver, Kasabian, Mumford & Sons and Adele. Yeah, Adele.

Blossoms will join Band of Skulls at The Great Escape 2016

Today they announced some great new bands are joining the line-up such as upcoming indie band Blossoms who have just recently supported indie giants The Libertines. Blossoms will join many other artists such as Band of Skulls and Mystery Jets. This year the Great Escape have introduced a new 16+ wristband, which means that under-18s will be able to attend some of the gigs at the festival. The festival is held in multiple venues across the city, with more than three hundred acts performing over the May weekend. The Great Escape is always a fantastic weekend and it’s a great chance to see some unknown bands, and some bigger names, play in intimate venues. Paul Weller even did a secret set last year, so you never know who’s going to be playing. You can find out more about the Great Escape here.
