The Ring That Tells You When You’re Ringing

We live in a culture where it is fairly commonplace to stop mid-conversation to check our phones. On average, a person spends nearly nine hours a day on electronic devices and one study even found that we spent longer checking emails in the morning than we did eating breakfast. However, as much as we may love to be able to unplug, it’s quite an unrealistic feat. Sometimes, there are phone calls and emails and text messages you have to reply to, so how can we unplug, without fully being unplugged?

Enter the Altruis range. The Altruis range is a range of jewellery, such as rings, necklaces and bracelets, that tell you when you have an important phone call, text message or email coming in. The jewellery will sync with an app on your phone and will vibrate when you receive either a text, call or email from your prescribed list of people. You can also sync it up with your calendar, so it can remind you of certain events you simply must not forget.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, you can set up secret code words with your best friends. The point of this? Anyone who’s been in at least one group chat on WhatsApp knows that you have to scroll through a lot of unimportant chit-chat before you get to the serious stuff. Having a code word means that whenever your friends use it, the jewellery vibrates and you know that it’s something more important that the friend who’s only just caught up on Making a Murderer.

Now, this is the part of the article where I tell you how much it is and you recoil in horror, but they actually aren’t that bad. The rings cost £220, which is a small price to pay for when you can finally get through a lunch date without even having to take your phone out of your bag. Unless it’s an emergency, of course. You can find them online here. You can also check out the video explaining how it’s done below.
