Inspirational business leaders who can help to drive economic growth are invited to join the the city’s new Economic Growth Board.

Following the launch of the city’s Economic Plan last November, a new, independent, economic growth board has been set up to help ensure the city’s business voice helps drive economic growth for Brighton & Hove and beyond.

Building on the success of the Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership, the board will work collaboratively to support delivery of the Economic Plan and help the city’s economy to grow.

Councillor Jacob Taylor, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Finance and City Regeneration said: “The city’s growth board is a key part of delivering the actions in the Economic Plan and provides an exciting opportunity to drive change and create a prosperous future for city businesses”.

“We’re looking for strong business voices from a range of sectors to make sure our business community is heard when making decisions, to help drive forward the ambitions of our economic plan.”

Applications are welcome from people with experience in business at a senior level, those with alternative entrepreneurial leadership roles and representatives from key sectors of the city’s economy, including financial services, creative, cultural and digital industries and the visitor economy.

The board will meet quarterly, and members will be expected to commit to two years on a voluntary basis. As the link between the board and their respective networks, members will ensure that the wider business voice – particularly those of underrepresented groups – is included in discussions and decisions.

Dean Orgill, chair of the new Economic Growth Board said: “We encourage diversity and would welcome applications from across the business community including people of all genders, ethnic minority, LGBTQ+ and disabled business owners and leaders, young entrepreneurs and leaders of social enterprises”.

To apply to be a board member, please complete the online application form on the council’s website by 5pm on Friday 18 April 2025.
