Brighton & Hove’s beloved family cycling event is back, with four feeder rides across Hove converging at the Peace Statue for a celebratory circular ride through the city

Brighton & Hove, April 2026 — Kidical Mass, the free friends and family bicycle ride, returns to Hove on Sunday 26 April 2026, celebrating the joy of cycling and calling for more safe, connected cycle lanes across the city.

The event is open to everyone — children, families, friends and adults without children — and is free to join with no registration required. Rides will proceed at a gentle pace to ensure no one is left behind. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Four Feeder Rides Across Hove

Riders can join at one of four feeder ride starting points:

  • Stoneham Park — departs 2:00 pm
  • Hove Cemetery North, Old Shoreham Road — departs 2:00 pm
  • Wish Park (East) — departs 2:10 pm
  • Hove Park (South) — departs 2:10 pm

All four feeder rides converge at the Peace Statue at 2:30 pm, where the full group will set off together on one big circular ride through Hove. The event is fully marshalled throughout.

Why It Matters

Anna Bourne from Bricycles said: “Hove needs safe cycle routes so families can take pupils to school, and older pupils can travel independently to schools such as Blatchington Mill, Hove Park and Kings.”

Duncan Blinkhorn from Brighton Bike Hub added: “Although the A259 Hove seafront cycle lane will be a welcome improvement when delivered, much of Hove is dominated by car traffic, making cycling challenging for people. Our city can be even better for cycling with continuing investment from the Council.”

Kidical Mass has taken place twice a year in Brighton and Hove since 2023, every April and September. Previous rides have drawn hundreds of children and adults, making it one of the city’s most popular family cycling events.

How to Get Involved

The ride is free and no registration is required, though organisers encourage participants to sign up on Eventbrite to help anticipate numbers. Volunteers are also needed — anyone wishing to help as a marshal should email Ursula at [email protected]
