WHAT’S ON IN APRIL?

If you voted for us in the Chortle Awards (a.k.a. the Oscars of Comedy), THANK YOU!

We are so honoured to have once again won Best Comedy Venue (South) and our first major award for Komedia Comedy Club, Best Pro Comedy Night (South). As a self-funded venue with a hard-working team, these awards truly have a big impact – it’s a morale boost, reignites press interest, and can persuade curious newcomers to give our venue a try.

COMEDY

Kicking off our comedy programme, we’ve got our Live Comedy Association Fundraiser on the first ever Live Comedy Day (1 Apr, no joke) featuring Rich Wilson (MC), Zoe Lyons, Sikisa, Andy Fox, Sydney May and Michael Campuzano.

Other highlights include Thomas Green’s Sunday Sesh with Maisie Adam, Kyrah Gray, Aiden Jones and Andrew Mensah (12 Apr), a work-in-progress double bill from Rich Hardisty & Rob Auton (14 Apr), Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow award winner Susie McCabe (15 Apr, selling fast), multi-award-winning comedian Sergi Polo in Spanish & English (19 Apr, selling fast), smash-hit Irish comedian Emma Doran (22 Apr, sold out), off-kilter storytelling from Amy Mason (23 Apr), break-out star of Taskmaster, Fatiha El-Ghorri (29 Apr, sold out) and Maureen Younger reflects on life, and ageing (26 Apr).

MUSIC

Music highlights begin with the UK’s leading country-pop trailblazer Twinnie (4 Apr, sold out), blues, rock and a shot of country from Beat To Quarters (10 Apr), American singer-songwriter Joshua Radin (14 Apr), K-pop event KTAM Unleashed with a host of Korean pop bands (19 & 22 Apr), and melodic guitar riffs and relatable lyrics from The Guest List + Shale (24 Apr, sold out).

CLUB NIGHTS

Dance the night away at one of our club nights. We’ve got tracks from Heated Rivalry alongside emo and 00s/10s pop anthems at My Chemical Rivalry (11 Apr), alternative 80s night Spellbound are back with a Birthday Party Special (18 Apr), celebrate the music of Bad Bunny at the Baile Inolvidable: Bad Bunny Appreciation Party (25 Apr), and enjoy the best of reggae, roots, ska, rocksteady and lovers rock at The Brighton Moon-Hop (25 Apr).

OTHER

Other events to look out for include storytelling fun for ages 9 months to 4 years at Story Magic (every Friday), our free monthly Record Fair (5 Apr), poet and performer Georgie Jones (8 Apr), comedy game-show Bogan Bingo (9 Apr, selling fast), Boss’ Drag Queens Bottomless Brunch (11 Apr), Chaps & Straps – Queer Line Dancing (16 Apr), Joe Black’s Kleines Kabarett (23 Apr), and our brand new Mystery Musicals Bottomless Brunch, hosted by comedian Lee Peart (25 Apr).
