Members of the ‘Some Voices’ choir group surprised guests that were on board the Brighton i360 glass pod on Sunday by breaking into the iconic soundtrack of the hit Christmas movie, ‘Love Actually’, as a nod to the new on-stage show, ‘Choir Actually’, that is touring around the UK this month and hits Brighton on Wednesday.
Guests were on board the pod for the Regency Squares Community’s tree lighting event, an annual community event to see the Christmas tree lights switched on in Regency Square for the Christmas season. They were completely unaware that the choir were about to break out into some of the best-known songs from the movie.
Julie Wright, Chair of the Regency Squares Community said “It was such a brilliant surprise for all our guests. After the excitement of the Christmas tree lights being switched, our guests were so surprised when the choir started singing, as they had just blended in among the guests until then. It made for a very memorable event and a wonderful party atmosphere”
The ‘Choir Actually’ show, which takes place in Brighton on Wednesday 7th December has been heralded by TimeOut as “the festive concert of your dreams” and “as much a party as it is a performance.”
Some Voices have 17 groups , including 1,100 members across the country. There are 30 members in the Brighton-based group, which is led by locally based conductor and composer Jade Williams. Sunday’s singing can be seen at- https://www.instagram.com/p/Cly1ymyoV7Q/
Some Voices mission is to make singing together available to as many people as possible, building up a network of family choirs around the country.
