Love Actually Live in Concert Brighton lands at the Brighton Centre on 21 December, as Richard Curtis’s best-loved festive film gets a cinematic upgrade: a full live orchestra performing Craig Armstrong’s score in time with the film on the big screen. It’s one stop on a 14-date UK tour running through November and December 2026, presented by JOY. Concerts.
How the Concert Format Works
Rather than a straightforward screening, Love Actually Live in Concert pairs the film — shown in high definition — with a live orchestra performing the score in perfect synchronisation. It’s a format built to turn a familiar festive watch into something closer to an event, with the emotional beats of the soundtrack landing in the room rather than through a speaker.
The film itself needs little introduction. Written and directed by Richard Curtis, Love Actually weaves together a handful of interlinked London stories of love, friendship, family and heartbreak in the run-up to Christmas, with a cast including Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, Laura Linney, Keira Knightley, Martine McCutcheon, Rowan Atkinson and Martin Freeman. More than two decades on, it remains a fixture of British Christmas viewing.
A Local Promoter Behind a National Tour
The Brighton date carries extra local significance: it’s presented by JOY. Concerts, the Brighton-based independent promoter behind Brighton Psych Fest and the seafront series On The Beach, among other shows shaping the city’s cultural calendar. Alongside large-scale touring productions like this one, JOY. works closely with independent venues and community organisations across the city, including NHS My Music, as part of its wider commitment to Brighton’s music scene.
