Residents are invited to nominate outstanding individuals for the Freedom of the City Award, which is one of the highest civic honours that can be bestowed by Brighton & Hove City Council.

The award recognises exceptional service or achievement that has made a significant impact on the city and its people. Nominations are now open and must be submitted by Sunday, 19 October 2025.

Councillor Bella Sankey, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, said: “This is a rare and meaningful opportunity to celebrate those who go above and beyond for our city. We want to hear from residents about the people who inspire them and the unsung heroes who make a real difference.”

Group Leaders will review the nominations and make recommendations to a special Full Council meeting in December 2025, where the final decision will be made.
