Oscar is a brave little dog who came into Emma Lee’s (Brighton Dog Care owner) life very unexpectedly. When previous owners got him at 8 months old they weren’t told of his incontinence. Over the 2 and a half years they had Oscar as apart of their family. They spent thousands on vet bills- consultations, tests, cat scans, drugs etc. however the only option was to put Oscar through for an operation. The family invested a great amount of love, time and money, but things proved difficult over time, especially when they discovered another baby would be on the way. They spent the whole pregnancy trying to find Oscar a new loving home.

A Facebook post pleaded for someone to give 3 year old Oscar a new chance. 15 rescue centres refused to take him in and this meant poor Oscar would be booked in to be put to sleep on the 22nd March 2017. This all due to Oscars rare medical condition, which consequently meant he dribbles a bit of urine, which he can’t control.

‘We just could not care the thought of such a beautiful little dog being put to sleep so we took him on! Oscar now spends his days coming to work with me and his evenings at his second owners flat where she showers him with love and affection! We are struggling to stem the flow of his leak, using puppy pads, nappies and an elasticated waste band. We have a dog nappy/ waist band on order but this is no long term solution. We would love to take him to a specialist vet to get him an operation!’ – Emma (Brighton Dog Care)

Oscar’s condition is so rare that vets haven’t come across it before. He has two urethras, which means when he goes to the toilet, urine will pass out of one and the other acts as a pocket to collect the urine. If he were to get excited or whilst exercising, it will spill and cause droplets to leak out. Brighton Dog Care believe that this would be a great study for Veterinary science to see if and how they could fix this problem.

‘So we are raising money for his general upkeep, vet bills and eventually his operation. Every little helps. Thank you all for taking the time to read about our beautiful little boy. We would love to give him a second chance, new lease of life, and a life without nappies!’  – Emma (Brighton Dog Care)

Brighton Dog Care have created a GoFundMe page to help Oscar with his condition. So far they have raised over £1,500 towards their £7000 goal. GoFundMe have even donated £1000 towards the cause.

‘As part of our Gives Back program, we’re grateful for the chance to donate to campaigns that have touched us. With best wishes, The GoFundMe Team’ – GoFundMe Team
