Tonight, the Haus on the Hill pub on Southover Street will be holding a fundraiser to try and raise more money for the residents of Pankhurst Avenue flats.
The terrible fire ripped through the flats on the 20th of September and left 50 people homeless.
Ali Charlesworth, the manager of Haus on the Hill, explained that:
“Pubs have always been the centre of the community which is one of our great cultural assets, this has something we have tried to do in Hanover since Brighton Bier opened the Haus on the Hill. Pubs play such an important part in neighbourhood life and when such a terrible incident has happened so close to us in Hanover we wanted to immediately help. We know how much the local people in Hanover, and across Brighton, care about their community and are confident we can raise money to help all the families affected”.
From 4pm today, the Haus on the Hill will be dedicating the night and ensuing weekend to raising money to help the families affected by the fire.
Live bands and DJs will provide the entertainment, with famous local 80’s indie rock band The Popguns headlining and the exciting new local band Boolin providing the support.
In addition there will be a raffle on the night featuring a range of great prizes, but sticking to the music theme pride of place will be signed CDs by Lily Moore and George Ezra.
If you can’t make it…
There will be a collection in the pub that will run all weekend, so if you can’t make it on the night there’s still plenty of time to pop into the Haus on the Hill and donate.
Ali Charlesworth said:
“It’s the Haus on the Hill’s 1st birthday party this weekend (4th–6th) where we’ll be showcasing as usual the beers from Brighton Bier alongside some great guest beers from around the UK and internationally, and so that along with the Hanover Beer Festival means we expect the pub to be busy all weekend. We hope our customers will therefore be happy to donate to the cause which will boost whatever we can raise on Thursday”.
The pub will be running drinks promotions in the pub on Thursday and hope that people will donate the savings from each drinks. Local international award winning brewery Brighton Bier who operate the pub will also be donating some beer to the event.
Haus on the Hill have spoken to the organisers of the Pankhurst Avenue Fire Fundraising Team who support the event and will be in attendance on the night. Don’t miss it!
