Working in partnership, Brighton & Hove City Council, Freegle, SOENECS and EraseMy Data, with support from Sussex University and University of Brighton, are pleased to announce that the first Tech-Takeback pop-up shop event will open it’s doors in an attempt to give locals somewhere to dispose of unwanted tech safely, by either making sure that working components of old devices are harvested and reused, or by reusing the device in concert with Brighton & Hove charities.

The Tech-Takeback pop-up shop event will start on ‘Black Friday’, November 24th, until Sunday the 3rd of December at 13 Pavilion Buildings, Brighton, BN1 1EE. The service will be open from 10.00 till 19.00 on weekdays, and 10.00 till 17.00 on weekends.

To dispose of your current unwanted tech safely, take it to the team at the pop-up shop and they will breathe a second life into your tech by responsibly, safely and securely erasing your tech of data and then re-using your item responsibly to the benefit of Brighton & Hove charities.  If your tech really is at the end of its life, then no worries, the team at Tech-Takeback will ensure responsible and correct re-use of its components.

By donating, you will automatically be entered into a prize draw – five lucky winners will receive a £10 voucher for the Green Rewards Eco Shop Shop (https://www.greenrewards.co.uk/products)

The shop is expected to get very busy at peak times, so if you would like to pre-register to save time on your visit, please visit the booking form here.

Locals wishing to recycle their old tech device, or donate them for re-use, are encourged to take along old Desktop PCs, Laptops, Tablets, Games Consoles, Smart Phones, Mobile Phones, Loose Hard Drives, USB Memory Sticks, Monitors/Screens, Cables, Keyboards, Printer Cartridges, and Mice (the clicky-pointy kind not the squeaky-furry kind!).

Just remember to back up any data that you wish to keep, as operatives at the tech-takeback pop-up will be erasing data to protect the security of those donating!
