A brief stroll into the picturesque wonderland that is Brighton’s North Laine will reveal a curious little establishment called The White Rabbit. It just so happens that it’s our pub of the week.

Given the multitude of shops, boutiques, cafes and bars which Brighton’s Lanes are blessed with, one would be forgiven if they had strolled past The White Rabbit without a moment’s notice. They would also be missing out on something special.

Interest is first piqued by the enticing hum of the pub-goers both outside in the Lane-facing garden and within this intriguingly decorated taproom. The White Rabbit prides itself on the quintessentially Brightonian decor – British artist and beer enthusiast Ralph Steadman is the inspiration for the furniture and artwork on display and only adds to the vibrancy with which The White Rabbit is synonymous.

But the fascinating furnishings are just the start of what makes this one of the premier independent pubs in Brighton. Everything about The White Rabbit is just as one would like: the crowds sizeable but not overbearing. The service friendly but not sickly sweet. The atmosphere lively without being boisterous.  Indeed, there’s virtually no time when The White Rabbit does not remedy your every problem, whether it be hunger, thirst or cabin fever.

Speaking of which, the wares on offer in this pub are impressive. As well as a range of your standard beers and ciders on tap, you can also find moderate rarities in Old Rosie and Hoegaarden which satiate and play up to the alternative and different mantra of the Lanes. Moreover, the food menu offerings are your standard pub fare – and that’s no bad thing. Flame-grilled burgers, light, crispy onion rings and thickly-loaded chilli fries are just some of the treats on offer Down the Rabbit Hole.

And if that’s not enough, the offers, deals and events which The White Rabbit boasts should both entice you in and keep you there. Happy Hour from 4-7pm on Fridays as well as Wednesday’s open mic offerings between 8 and 11pm are expected for a pub in this part of town, but are there nevertheless.

It’s quite simply a pub for everyone, so be sure to get down to The White Rabbit: don’t be late for this very important date.
