April 16th thousands of music fans will descend onto the streets of the UK’s trendiest towns and cities for Record Store Day. This phenomenon is one that has taken the music world by storm and while still relatively new in the UK, it has grown from strength to strength. There are three record stores in Brighton selling exclusive Record Store Releases, they are Resident, Cult Hero and Rarekind Records. Here are our top picks to look out for this Record Store Day.
Alan Partridge ‘Knowing Me Knowing You’: Who said Record Store Day had to be about music? Have Alan’s famous radio show immortalised in your record collection. It would look good next to ‘Best of the Beatles’ I reckon.
David Bowie ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ on Picture Disc: This one will be a tough one to get your hands on but it will be worth it if you do manage to grab it.

The Doors ‘Live at the Aquarius Theatre Vol 1’: This show is available on vinyl for the first time and is a must for fans and collectors.
Architects ‘Lost Forever // Lost Together’: The Brighton natives are releasing a RSD exclusive this year.

John Cooper Clarke ‘Ou Est Le Maison De Fromage’: The original recordings of the punk poet reciting some gems such as ‘Ten Years In An Open Neck Shirt’ and ‘Daily Express (You Never See A Nipple In The)
John Williams ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’: Because why wouldn’t you? I will fight someone for this if needs be.

Nirvana ‘Live On Kaos FM, Seattle – 1987’: The bootleg versions of this Nirvana set have been knocking about for ages but it’s finally being released for RSD.
Brighton’s Finest Presents: New record label Brighton’s Finest are releasing a compilation vinyl with the best track listing I have seen in a long time. From Royal Blood to Birdskulls to Gaz Coombes, the record showcases the best of Brighton.
There are literally hundreds of releases that are exclusive to Record Store Day this year and there is something for every record collector. You can find the full list here.
